Vector Marine Electronics, Ltd and SSC RAS conducted studies using the "Sector"

In the period from April 18 to April 22, 2016, the research team of Vector Marine Electronics, Ltd and the SSC RAS under the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation conducted a study on assessing the number and species composition of aquatic biological diversity under the conditions of shallow waters in the area of BNEB "Kagalnik".

Bathymetric maps and maps of the distribution of the surface backscattering coefficient, showing the correlation between the deepest parts of these areas and fish accumulation sites, were built for 2 districts - “Merinovoe girlo” and “Mokraya Kalancha”.

Migration surveys showed a direct relationship between the number of recorded fish and the state of the weather in the study area.

Surveys of fish in cages showed that the echo signal form can serve as a characteristic feature of different types of fish. Express analysis of echo signals from different fish species in cages showed that, as one of the classification signs, there may be a change in the steepness of the leading edge of the reflected pulse. For example, for a pelengas and a carp, the nature of the change in the steepness of the front is different.

At a meeting held on April 22, 2016 in the BNEB "Kagalnik", fragments of the accumulated sonar recordings were reviewed, the results were discussed, and the data processing tasks were refined.

Studies carried out from 18 to 22 April 2016 by the scientific group were conducted in full and in accordance with the approved task, despite the difficult weather conditions.
